Who will go down from the Premier League? Spread betting on relegation

SPORTING INDEX’S Premier League Relegation Index gives points to teams finishing in the bottom six places at the end of the season. They are awarded as follows: Bottom = 60pts, Second Bottom = 40pts, Third Bottom = 30pts, Fourth Bottom = 20pts, Fifth Bottom = 10pts, Sixth Bottom = 5pts. All others = 0.
With just six points separating the bottom six sides at present, and the managerial merry-go-round in full swing, the Relegation Index is pretty open. Burnley may be three points clear of basement boys Leicester, but still have the highest quote, trading at 33-36. Buyers at 36 would make a profit of 24 times their stake if the Clarets finished last.
However, if Burnley finished 18th or better, then buyers would make a loss of at least six times their stake. Leicester are pitched at 30-33.
Queens Park Rangers looked down and out early in the campaign, but are now 20-23 on the Index with Harry Redknapp’s charges up to 16th.
And what about Southampton? After a brilliant 2013-14 season, a mass summer exodus left many fearing the worst. Saints were trading at 6-8 in August but, after a fantastic start that has yielded 36 points from 20 games, Ronald Koeman’s men are now priced at 0-0.3.
