Amec eyes new growth in Australasia and America
BRITISH engineering group Amec has zoomed in on growth opportunities in South America and Australia, said the firm’s chief financial officer, as he shrugged off the impact of a tax hike in the North Sea.
“Brazil and South America and Australasia we would see as a focus for development. Where we are underweight, where we see good growth, it would be South America and Australasia,” finance chief Ian McHoul said at a conference this week.
The company – which designs and builds infrastructure for companies in the oil and gas, nuclear, mining and renewable energy sectors – said in March it would consider returning cash to shareholders next year should a major deal not materialise.
“We have a pipeline of transactions which has been okay in the past and is now better than okay,” said McHoul
