Harry’s team asks you to walk home for Xmas
ADVERSE weather conditions may have slowed Prince Harry’s trek to the South Pole but a UK-based event in support of Walking With The Wounded, backed by City A.M., is still rolling full steam ahead.
Glenfiddich, Prince Harry’s team, has been banging the drum for Walking Home for Christmas from all the way down in Antarctica.
“Walking Home for Christmas is a brilliant initiative and one we hope people will embrace,” said Ed Parker, the Walking with the Wounded expedition director.
“We are going to be walking 335km in some pretty uncomfortable conditions so knowing people are doing their bit to support us will certainly ease the pain”
Walking With the Wounded has called for City workers to give public transport the cold shoulder on 20 December and walk home – raising money for the ex-military personnel the charity supports.
Investment firm Charles Stanley is one of the latest companies to sponsor the event and for those of you worried about sustaining yourself on such a long trek, Renaissance Pubs has swung in and saved the day, by offering anyone taking part in the event a free pint in any of its pubs. (The Capitalist feels a Christmas pub crawl coming on.)
And if that wasn’t incentive enough, the person with the longest walk home will receive a bespoke suit courtesy of Dress2Kill. The Capitalist has heard one man is walking from central London back to Cambridge – he currently holds the longest commute title. At 60-odd miles that’s not easy to beat but we’re sure there’s someone out there willing to (literally) go that extra mile…
