Goldman tops list for global M&A
GOLDMAN Sachs is the top bank for global mergers and acquisitions (M&A), having advised on deals worth $297.5bn (£183.8bn) so far this year.
The Wall Street giant pips rival JP Morgan to the top of a list of global banks, according to data provider Dealogic.
JP Morgan has advised on deals worth $281bn so far this year.
Goldman has advised on some 59 transactions worth more than $1bn apiece, out of a total of 138 deals. The deals worth more than $1bn account for 91 per cent of the total deal value of its advisory work.
The biggest deal the bank advised on so far this year is the $21.5bn purchase of Swiss medical firm Synthes by US healthcare giant Johnson & Johnson.
Barclays Capital was the highest placed UK-based investment bank, having advised on $151.8bn worth of M&A deals.
