CITY VIEWS: DO YOU THINK AUTO-ENROLMENT IS AN IMPROVEMENT TO THE UK’S PENSIONS REGULATION?
MARCELLA POLZER | CONCORDIA CONSULTANCY
“Overall, it’s better to have a pension scheme, but I don’t think it’s a great improvement because you never know what is going to happen in 30 or 50 years. I’d prefer to be paid more cash now than to be automatically enrolled in a company scheme.”
DANIEL FARIKULLAH | NOMURA GROUP
“I can see why they are doing it: if you have a government that’s almost bankrupt you need to have auto-enrollment in place. There’s a huge pensions gap and in any crisis, a lot of reform is required. And the pensions industry wants a constant cash flow.”
LENA STEINBERG | MAN GROUP
“It doesn’t seem like it will change that much. Probably more people will end up enrolled accidentally, which is a good thing, though it seems like a sneaky way of doing it. I?just hope that companies make sure that people understand the changes.”
