BIS misses own target on gender
The Department for Business Innovation and Skills has failed to appoint an equal number of men and women as advisors to ministers, despite being responsible for setting targets on gender diversity. In new figures released yesterday, BIS revealed it made 96 public appointments but only 22 of those were women, despite it having full control over the appointment process. A spokesman said: “The figures shown in the report relate to the period up to the end of March 2013. Since then BIS has made good progress in building the number of women appointees to its public appointments.”
