Well-groomed pooches boost Pets at Home

PETS AT Home sales jumped 9.6 per cent last year, driven by a burgeoning demand for its VIP club for pampered pets and strong sales of its advanced nutrition products.
The company, which provides pet food, accessories and veterinary services across 400 outlets, reported total sales of £729.1m in its first full year of trading as a public company after floating in March last year.
Like-for-like sales rose 4.2 per cent, thanks to growth across its products, so-called groom rooms and veterinary practices.
Another 270,000 members joined its VIP club in the fourth quarter, bringing the loyalty scheme’s total number of members to 3.2m at the end of the year.
The group has 179 groom rooms after opening 50 last year.
