United fans urged to give up season tickets
THE Manchester United Supporters’ Trust (Must) has reiterated its plea for fans to forgo their season tickets next season in a bid to force the club’s owners to sell up.
A fan backed bid of around £1bn is thought to be in the final stages of preparation but the American Glazer family has consistently claimed they will not sell the club.
Now Must hopes as many as 15,000 fans will pass on the chance to buy the tickets next season.
Duncan Drasdo, chief executive of MUST said: “The Glazers have wasted £437m in fees and interest – more than the total ticket revenue (£398m) for the full five year period.
“Without the takeover, every supporter could have attended Old Trafford free for the last five years.
“We want to see the Glazer ownership come to an end. Season ticket holders are encouraged to delay renewing until the bid comes in.”
