A treadmill desk to fight the fat at US law firm
LONDON law firms yesterday scoffed at the latest multi-tasking trend from those imaginative folks across the pond – running and working at the same time.
In a bid to help staff battle the bulge Ohio law firm Taft Stettinius and Hollister is the first to embrace the idea, by installing desks with treadmills underneath.
Partner at the firm Mary Rust is known to rack up four hours a day on the machine while browsing contracts.
So what did the City’s firms make of the desk-mill?
Slaughters partner Paul Olney asked The Capitalist: “So it’s not to power some generator?” Before concluding: “I can’t think that we’re going to be adopting anything like that.”
And Allen & Overy told us yesterday that the firm “encourages people to stay healthy by getting out of the office”.
Back to the 5:2 diet then, London legal folks.
