1 He once ended up owning a nightclub in Manila due to non-payment of a debt. Luckily the debt was repaid. But for six months, he was the owner of the Firehouse Club, unbeknown to his employers.
2 He was once charged with accompanying the ex-Foreign Secretary, George Brown, on a trip around Japan. Then 23 years old, his job was to keep as much alcohol away from Brown as possible, but if he did get drunk to drag him back to the hotel.
3 His first big break as a self-employed businessman was buying Russian privatisation vouchers in a vegetable market in Moscow in 1994 and swapping them for shares in state owned industries.
