Thomson turns to the net
THOMSON Reuters last night confirmed to City A.M. plans to undergo a large-scale revamp of its markets division that will see the coming together of Reuters and Thomson Financial products for the first time.
In an bid to distinguish itself from rival Bloomberg, the financial information services provider will offer customers two web-based platforms instead of traditional desk terminals.
The platforms are aimed at servicing large financial services institutions and smaller customers separately, and are likely to make it easier for a new generation of users wanting internet search style access.
The enterprise platform, the first of many product launches up until the autumn, will launch next week and offers faster delivery of data to customers. Thomson Reuters said the industry was is in a very different place compared to April 2008, when the merger was first revealed.
