the INSIDE
The Betdaq.co.uk Cleves Stakes at Lingfield (3.50pm) is an intriguing contest and my eye is taken by three runners. I backed Mullionmileanhour in the 2008 Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot when he was beaten by John Best’s other runner Flashmans Papers. I’ve been waiting for him to return to the track and if the money comes it could prove significant.
Pat Gilligan is a trainer I like to follow as he often throws up a big priced winner in a tricky race, but I can’t really see his 75 rated Brunelleschi being good enough to win this. The one I will be having a few shillings on is JACONET from the in-form David Barron stable with Phillip Makin in the saddle.
However, Makin will still be looking over his shoulder even if he passes the post first tomorrow as DEAN HESLOP, a very useful five pound claimer, has been booting in the winners for the Barron team in recent weeks. The bookies haven’t priced up the apprentice title yet, but when they do I’d advise having a few quid each-way on the youngster.
ELNA BRIGHT has been running really well on the all weather and I see no reason for deserting this son of Elnadim in the 4.55pm. You may actually get a better price in running so look to back him on Betdaq just before the home turn.
