Takeover Panel’s Hingley joins top ranks at Lazard
VETERAN investment banker Robert Hingley is set to take up a coveted role at Lazard, one of the world’s biggest M&A advisory firms, just a few months after completing his stint at the helm of the Takeover Panel.
Hingley, 49, joins Lazard as a managing director in the financial advisory business and will lead the UK financial institutions group alongside the firm’s London-based vice chairman Will Samuel.
Hingley spent the past two years as director general at the Panel, culminating with US consumer giant Kraft’s takeover of chocolatier Cadbury earlier this year – a deal which has sparked intense scrutiny from policymakers over current M&A rules. Prior to that, he spent three years at boutique investment bank Lexicon Partners and 18 years at Schroders and Citigroup.
