Now Nicola Sturgeon has published her tax return for 2014/15
Scottish National Party (SNP) leader Nicola Sturgeon has become the latest politician to lay out her tax return for all to see, after the Panama Papers scandal called into question the tax dealings of numerous high-profile individuals.
Sturgeon's tax return for tax year 2014/15, which was posted up on the SNP's website today, reveals that the Scottish First Minister paid £32,517 in income tax on £104,817 of income.
Sturgeon has also vowed to continue to publish her return on an annual basis for as long as she remains First Minister.
The notice on the SNP's website also points out that Sturgeon has effectively frozen her pay to the amount she would have been entitled to in tax year 2008/09. Although she pays income tax on the full entitlement, she only draws the capped amount while the balance goes back to the Scottish Government for use in general public spending.
Prime Minister David Cameron published details from his tax returns for the last six years earlier on this morning. His late father, Ian Cameron, was among that names listed in the leaked documents belonging to Panama-headquartered law firm Mossack Fonseca.
Kezia Dugdale, Willie Rennie and Ruth Davidson – the leaders of the Scottish Labour, Scottish Liberal Democrats and Scottish Conservative parties respectively – all published details from their tax returns earlier this weekend.
Last Sunday, the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists published a report based on more than 11m leaked files which implicated a number of household names from around the world in offshore tax dealings.
