Lobby lunch: Grant Shapps cuts off his upper crust
GRANT Shapps raised a few more eyebrows yesterday – and not by retweeting his controversial beer and bingo message. Having invited a group of hacks to a regional lobby lunch, the Tory chair showed his tastes are very much in line with the working classes. While the attending journalists were sat in front of an elegant plate of salmon, pulled pork and rocket (and wine naturally) – Shapps had a plain, white chicken sandwich in front of him (pictured).
The politician ignored his cutlery and ploughed into his neatly cut triangles of unpretentiousness, as the rest of the party delicately tackled their own lunches.
He might not be perceived as a “man of the people” yet but he’s certainly working hard to look like one #hardworkingpeople.
