Goldfish, beanbags, fidget cubes and plants: Forget mindfulness, here are three other ways you can de-stress at work
Almost four in five of us claim to be under pressure every day, according to new research from Tetra. But if you thought the only way to feel more relaxed at work was to get your head around mindfulness, we have some good news for you.
Forget meditation and other in-head mind techniques: fish keeping could be the answer to your stress woes. Keeping fish in the home helps create a calm atmosphere, boost sleep and creativity, Tetra has said.
Unfortunately as this is in the home rather than the office, there’s little hope of it keeping you calmer during the working day (not to mention the pressure of actually keeping the creatures alive – their lives are in your hands after all).

Here are three other de-stressing suggestions The Capitalist would make that you can apply to your in-office world:
1. Start with a plant
Yes, many of you will be arguing that this isn’t a new suggestion. Whether you want a bonsai tree or something with more foliage, you could eventually use a large plant friend to block out annoying colleagues or create a small, tranquil forest for yourself.

2. Invest in a Fidget Cube
Currently in the midst of a Kickstarter campaign, the Fidget Cube is a one-stop shop for people who like to fidget with their hands during the day, with six sides allowing you to click, roll, flip and slide parts of the cube to your heart’s content.
3. Shun standing desks and get a beanbag
For the ultimate in reclining bliss, work from a laptop or invert your standing desk to be floor-friendly. The start-ups have been onto something all along.
