Getting business tips from pirates and psychopaths
FOR MOST people, a life of piracy on the high seas isn’t really something to look to for inspiration, but one ex-Skype employee disagrees so much she has planned a conference to give punters ideas for innovation based on pirates and er, psychopaths.
“It’s is aimed at anyone open to learning from unexpected places; misfits, like pirates … are prepared to challenge the status quo and can often have breakthroughs in innovation,” PurpleBeach founder Annemie Ress told The Capitalist.
Well, making people walking a plank was an innovative way to get rid of bodies we suppose. And then there’s the stat from forensic psychologist Robert Hare, who said one per cent of the general population can be categorised as psychopathic, but prevalence in the financial services industry is 10 per cent.
But maybe let’s not talk about that one.
