David Cameron rules out plans to relax Sunday trading hours
PRIME MINISTER David Cameron yesterday said the government did not plan on permanently relaxing Sunday trading laws, despite sources hinting that there could be a future consultation after the additional hours provided some retailers with a welcome trading boost over the Olympics period.
His comments at Downing Street yesterday came after Conservative MP Mark Pritchard warned in The Sunday Telegraph that a permanent relaxation would be a “major breach of trust” by the Coalition.
Scrapping restrictions has divided both MPs and retailers, with some ministers arguing it could stimulate the economy.
