Credit Suisse’s Noreen Doyle to chair BBA
FOR the first time in its 96-year history, the British Bankers Association, the lobby group which represents the UK’s banking industry, has appointed a female chair, Credit Suisse’s Noreen Doyle.
Doyle said of her appointment: “Rebuilding the trust of customers, driving up standards in the industry and working with government and regulators to ensure our banks remain globally competitive are some of the issues I look forward to working on with [chief executive] Anthony Browne and his team.”
Before her current role as Credit Suisse’s chairman, Doyle was vice president of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, formed to help boost the economies of former eastern bloc states after the Berlin Wall came down.
She starts her role on 17 October.
