Confidence among businesses falls
BUSINESS confidence fell to its lowest level in eight months at the end of 2009, according to the latest survey from Lloyds TSB Corporate Markets.
Of the companies questioned in December, only 52 per cent declared themselves more upbeat than a year ago, with 19 per cent claiming to be more pessimistic about the current financial climate.
However, despite the winter dip in confidence levels, the report concluded that businesses were taking a more positive view than they did in the depths of the financial crisis in 2008.
Trevor Williams, chief economist at Lloyds TSB corporate markets, said: “Across the board businesses are now far more optimistic about the economic outlook then they were a year ago”
