YFM Equity Partners
The private equity firm has announced the appointment of Paul Cook as chief operating officer. Cook was previously managing director of Access IS, and has also held roles at KPMG, PwC, Sonatest, American Standard and William Baird.
BNP Paribas
The bank has appointed Gildas Surry as senior credit analyst for European banks. Surry has been covering the banking sector for 12 years. He was formerly at Citigroup, where he was a credit sector specialist. Before that, he held roles at Merrill Lynch and Lazard Freres.
Irwin Mitchell
The law firm has recruited Phil Berwick as a tax dispute partner. A former inspector of taxes, Berwick left the Inland Revenue 18 years ago. He previously worked at Tenon, and was most recently head of the tax investigations team at Pinsent Masons.
PineBridge Investments
Stephan van Vliet has been appointed head of insurance asset management at the asset management firm. He has over 18 years’ international experience. Van Vliet joins from ING Insurance Asia-Pacific, where he was head of investments.
Latham & Watkins
The law firm has announced the appointment of Nick Benson as a partner in its private equity group. Benson was most recently at Weil Gotshal & Manges, where he advised on private equity, infrastructure and real estate funds.
Crowe Clark Whitehill
James Martin has joined the advisory firm as a partner and Midlands head of its recovery solutions division. He joins from R3, where he was a regional chairman.
Newedge
The multi-asset brokerage has hired Eric Shi as head of China commodities. He was formerly global head of commodities at BOC International.
Silicon Valley Bank
The bank has hired Gerald Brady as head of UK relationship banking. He has extensive experience in technology and finance, and has previously held roles at Siemens and 3i. Brady also sits on the board of the British American Business Council.
