Camelot loses bid to close Health Lottery
RICHARD Desmond’s Health Lottery won a significant victory yesterday when the High Court rejected National Lottery operator Camelot’s call for a judicial review into it.
Camelot’s chief executive Dianne Thompson had claimed that Desmond’s network of local lotteries challenged her company’s special status as the national operator. She said she would appeal the “legally-flawed” decision.
Desmond – who owns Channel 5, the Express and Star papers, and a host of adult channels – called the judgment a “triumph”.
