Jace Tyrell, chief executive of the New West End Company (NWEC), a group representing retailers and landlords in the West End, said environmental and management issues have been putting off big European and international fund managers from the district.
He said London is "falling behind other cities", but that the NWEC is in "delivery mode" and is also looking at how to cut the number of trucks bringing goods to retailers along Oxford Street and Bond Street as well.
This year, the number of buses travelling along Oxford Street is also set to tumble by 30 per cent, which is expected to significantly lower the air pollution along the capital's busiest shopping street.
