Apple Watch software update watchOS 2 delayed due to bug – iOS 9 release not affected
Apple has postponed the release of new Apple Watch software watchOS 2, expected to be made available today, because of a bug.
The software update would have been released to Apple Watch owners today. How long it will now be delayed is unclear, a company spokesperson said to the Financial Times:
We have discovered a bug in development of watchOS 2 that is taking a bit longer to fix than we expected. We will not release watchOS 2 today but will shortly.
The Apple Watch’s new operating system makes native third-party apps possible, something which would speed up the devices considerably.
This delay doesn’t affect the release of iOS 9, the latest version of the iPhone and iPad operating system, which will be released today at 6pm UK time.
