Ancelotti’s made us patient and so deadly, insists Ballack
CHELSEA midfielder Michael Ballack believes their ruthless start to the season stems from a fresh approach instilled by new boss Carlo Ancelotti.
The Blues have gained maximum points from their opening six Premier League matches, setting a record 11th straight win in the process and bagging 15 goals to boot.
The German has excelled under the new management and he feels the team’s growing understanding and confidence are the ingredients for their dominant start.
The 32-year-old said: “Since he has been here we have played very well. Under him we changed the system – which gives us more possession and makes the game feel a little bit more comfortable even if we don’t create one chance after another, because we know the situation will come.
“That’s what he always tells us – you have to wait for your chance and you can see it now when they come, we are deadly. He gives the team a lot of confidence.”
Tottenham became the latest team to suffer defeat at the hands of Chelsea in Sunday’s London derby and Ballack insists there will be no let-up as his side sit pretty on top of the table.
“We’ve won every game and we want to keep going like this. The team is confident and settled,” the former Bayern Munich player added.
Ancelotti will look to maintain his 100 per cent record tomorrow in another London derby when QPR travel to Stamford Bridge for the third round of the Carling Cup.
