Would you say yes to Oink Energy’s Peppa Pig-ish porcine power?
It’s fair to say energy companies are still not at the top of the public’s Christmas card lists – and this morning, a new energy company has trotted on to the scene to give us all something to think about. Would we rather get their energy bills from Centrica’s Sammy “two pools” Laidlaw or Peppa Pig?
Entertainment One hasn’t spun out the pink piggy family into a lucrative energy providing side project. Rather, an independent energy provider called Oink Energy has launched, with remarkably Peppa-ish porcine characters trumpeting its cause.
The new brand comes to us from existing energy provider Green Energy.
“They wanted to provide a brand with wider appeal, something more innovative and straightforward,” a spokesperson told The Capitalist.
“Oink Energy is sniffing out customers who want an energy company more in tune with them and who understand what people want,” goes the release.
The news comes with details of the company’s PiggyFesto (see what they did there?) This promises to “call a piglet a piglet” and “tell you like it is.” They’ve even given us the lowdown on their piggy mascots. Parents Peggy and Peter “love a pig pun” (no kidding). Daughter Titch, nine, loves to draw and son Sparky, 12, likes having the last word. The company says it’s for “customers who just want dead simple energy”.
Not a bad idea, if they’re selling energy to six-year-olds.
