Trust in energy companies rising as consumers see their bills fall
Concern about energy costs is falling and trust in suppliers is up, according to a new report by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC).
Thirty-one per cent said they were concerned about their energy bills, down from 47 per cent in December 2013, and there is less concern about prices overall.
“The next Labour government is committed to making big changes in our energy market” a party spokesman said. The Tories replied “If Ed Miliband had his way through his nonsensical high price freeze, bills would have been frozen at the top of the market.”
Green MP Caroline Lucas said: “With many people still distrusting their energy supplier, and switching proving unpopular, it’s clear we need policy changes.”
Fracking has been high on the political agenda, and 24 per cent said they support shale gas extraction, to 23 per cent against.
DECC surveyed 2000 households to compile the tracker, which it uses to help guide how it communicates with the public, and judge the success of its policies.
