Here are three things to expect from Theresa May during her premiership
As Theresa May swoops in on Downing Street today, pundits are climbing over each other to speculate over what will be her first order of business.
Is it all too much to take in? Here's what can we expect from her and what will her priorities are likely to be.
Brexit means Brexit
The House of Commons will debate a petition for a second EU referendum on 5 September, due to the "huge number" of signatures it gathered. But despite that, May is determined Britain will make the best out of the result of the EU referendum, saying “Brexit means Brexit and we’re going to make a success of it”.

Cabinet
It has been speculated May’s cabinet will include more females in senior roles, with current energy secretary Amber Rudd and and Justine Greening, the international development secretary, among those who are likely to be promoted to top jobs. The intention is, apparently, to create a gender-balanced cabinet, which will reflect future policies, with May determined to make it fully representative of the rest of the UK's population.
Focus on unity
May has previously stated that “we need a bold, new, positive vision for the future of our country – a vision of a country that works for everyone – not just the privileged few”. Outlining particular issues of social inequality, it seems we can expect an effort create unity – which, given divisions following the EU referendum, could be crucial…
