Thames lifeboats busiest in UK
Tower lifeboat station, based by Waterloo Bridge on the River Thames, was the busiest across the UK and the Republic of Ireland last year, with 380 rescue missions. The RNLI lifeboat station was involved in the rescue of 148 people over 2009, up from 99 the year before. The charity is releasing its figures today, ahead of its SOS day on Friday to raise money for vital lifesaving equipment. The second busiest station was Chiswick.
