Terrorist plot to kill Tony Blair: Old Bailey hears of Erol Incedal’s suspected plan

A 26-year-old Londoner is on trial at the Old Bailey for planning a terrorist attack against Tony Blair.

 

Erol Incedal is accused of possessing a document called “Bomb Making” on a memory card and of planning to attack Blair's residence, after the former Prime Minister's address was found written on a piece of paper contained in a glasses case. 

 

The evidence was discovered inside Incedal's black Mercedes when police stopped him on 30 September for a road traffic offence, according to prosecutor Richard Whittam QC. Incedal denies the charges.

 

“Count 1 does not suggest that Erol Incedal had settled on a specific target or a particular methodology, but in the context of the case as a whole and the evidence that I am going to come to, you may think that this address does have some significance,” said Whittam. Most of the trial will be heard in secret. 

 

The court heard that a listening device was put in the car during the search.
