Spread betting on bookings
THE BOOKINGS market is always interesting when it comes to a Manchester derby.
Sporting Index award 10 points for a yellow card and 25 points for a red. If a player is sent off after receiving a second yellow card the total points for that player will be 35.
Last season there were four yellow cards in the game at Old Trafford and three at the Etihad so the make-ups were 40 and 30 points.
For Sunday’s game the traders in Kennington have quoted bookings at 58-62 which may appeal to sellers judged on last term’s encounters.
However, both City and United have been struggling this term, so there is added importance to this game which could result in some fiery tackles.
You also need to closely consider the referee. The man in the middle on Sunday is Michael Oliver who is well respected but missed Marouane Fellaini’s elbow in the Old Trafford derby last season.
He hasn’t sent anyone off yet this term, but he dished out nine yellows in the north London derby last month. For those that think Oliver is going to be lenient they would sell at 58 and hope that there is no red card and less than six bookings, while those with the opposite view will buy at 62 and hope for outright warfare.
Either way, bookings is a fascinating market which keeps you enthralled right up to the final whistle.
