Rolls Royce lands $100m defence contract
Aerospace and defence giant Rolls Royce has been awarded a $100m contract by the US Department of Defence.
The company will provide support for the F405 (Adour) engines that power the US Navy's T-45 training aircraft.
Rolls Royce will be responsible for providing depot level maintenance and logistics support for over 200 Adour engines.
The contract sees Rolls Royce continue its support for new aviators in the US Navy and Marine Corps, which the company has been providing for over a decade.
Paul Craig, Rolls-Royce, president – defense services, responded to the agreement by praising the Adour engine:
The Adour is an industry leader in low-risk, affordable engine performance for military trainer aircraft and has amassed more than 8.6m flight hours across multiple global fleets.
The Adour engines are not only going to power the T-45 Goshawk but also the Hawk AJTS aircraft, a popular contender for the US Air Force T-X trainer program.
