  • RBS withdraws from Tibor panel

    RBS yesterday said it had withdrawn from the panels that set Tibor – the Japanese equivalent of Libor. RBS said the move was part of a strategic decision taken by chief executive Stephen Hester to rationalise its markets business. Despite the move, RBS said that it “remained committed” to the Japanese market.

  • Ticket price rises boost Cineworld

    Cineworld yesterday reported a 1.1 per cent rise in first-half revenues, boosted by a 4.1 per cent growth in box office income due to ticket price increases despite lower sales. Other income fell 18.7 per cent due to lower sales of 3D glasses, the booking fee removal and reduced ad revenues.

    Westfield Group, which owns London’s Shepherd’s Bush and Stratford shopping centres, yesterday raised £450m with the issuance of a 10-year sterling bond. The Australian firm is expected to use part of the money raised to pay down some of its UK debts, as well as fund new investments.
