Playing nosey neighbours at Small Cap bash
THE CITY’S small cap stars had their night in the spotlight yesterday at the Small Cap Awards in the St Paul’s Grange Hotel. The Saturday night TV fans among the crowd got quite a treat, with voice of X-Factor and Britain’s Got Talent, Peter Dickson, acting as master of ceremonies. His familiar and booming voice added a soupcon of adrenaline to the evening’s proceedings.
Former Teather & Greenwood chief exec Ken Ford was chuffed to take the noble title of Small Cap Hero on the night. Cenkos took the advisor of the year award and Matt Butlin of Allenby Capital was advisor of the year.
Fund manager of the year went to Gervais Williams, Miton Group who gave away the real reason everyone was so eager to be there: “It’s fantastic to get awards, we always have a good time but it’s also good to see our competitors,” he told The Capitalist. “We used to go to a lot of joint meetings and lunches but no so much anymore. It’s like a village, coming to these we can look around and see what’s in our competitors’ gardens.” Certainly one way of keeping up with the Joneses.
