Resident doctor strike turnout is down, NHS chief says

BRISTOL, ENGLAND - JULY 25: Striking doctors protest outside Bristol Royal Infirmary hospital on July 25, 2025 in Bristol, England. Resident doctors, formerly called junior doctors, have begun a five-day strike in England over a pay dispute with the government. Members of the British Medical Association (BMA) said earlier this week that they would go ahead with the strike, after talks with the government failed to reach an agreement over the doctors' demands for 'pay restoration.' Despite receiving an average 5.4% pay rise for this financial year and a 22% increase over the previous two years, the BMA says the Health secretary Wes Streeting said: "These strikes were unnecessary." September 18, 2014

Skyscrapers may be complex to build, but what about getting the furniture into them? The video below gives a leaf's-eye-view of the process involved in hoisting a palm tree into the top floors of the Walkie [...]

  • Walkie-Talkie loses out on Carbuncle Cup ugly building award… for this year

    September 3, 2014

Ladies and gentlemen, this year’s coveted Carbuncle Cup – the award for the UK’s ugliest building – goes to (drumroll please)… not one of the most nominated buildings, the Walkie Talkie, aka 20 Fenchurch St. Unfortunately, or fortunately – depending on your perspective – the Walkie Talkie could not appear on Building Design Magazine’s list [...]
