Orange JV announces 1,200 jobs will be axed
EVERYTHING Everywhere, the tie-up between France Telecom’s Orange and Deutsche Telekom’s T-Mobile in the UK, said yesterday it would cut 1,200 back office and management jobs.
The company said the roles were duplicated across the two businesses, which merged in July, and will affect around 7.5 per cent of its 16,000 strong workforce.
Everything Everywhere said customer service staff and retail store workers would not be affected.
The group, which has nearly 28m customers, has headquarters in London, Hatfield and Bristol.
Earlier this week the joint venture said it has completed its merger integration ahead of plan.
The firm announced in its second quarter results it has grown its contract customer base by 8.6 per cent year on year. It said Ebitda for the second quarter was £309m, with revenue growing one per cent.
