Npower unveils new bills to help customers cut their energy costs
NPOWER today unveiled a new, simplified energy bill, amid claims that energy companies make it too complicated for customers looking to reduce costs.
The big six supplier embarked on a bill design makeover at the end of last year in response to customer feedback. The new format uses clearer language and contains information on energy usage and energy saving advice.
“A customer’s energy bill is their main, and in some cases only, line of communication with their energy supplier,” said Paul Massara, chief executive of Npower. “We want to make sure that our energy bill helps our customers to take control of their energy usage.”
Regulator Ofgem launched a retail market review in 2010 to make the energy market clearer and fairer for customers.
Reforms to energy bills were introduced on 1 January, forcing suppliers to inform customers through bills what they are doing and of any upcoming changes.
More energy reforms will be introduced at the end of March, mandating companies to tell consumers which of their tariffs are the cheapest.
