Mitie preferred bidders in Rolls facility offering
BRISTOL-based strategic outsourcing company Mitie, has been named the preferred bidder by motor manufacturers Rolls-Royce for the facilities management of its UK and specific European properties.
The agreement, which will be one of the FTSE 250 group’s largest pan-European deals, will see Mitie continue its 23-year partnership will Rolls-Royce.
Mitie, founded in 1987, is a British strategic outsourcing and energy services company providing property management, facilities management, infrastructure consultancy and energy services across more than 50 sites in the UK and Europe.
Mitie has worked closely with Rolls-Royce since its formation, and the two companies have been in partnership for 23 years.
In 2011 Mitie introduced a major expansion to the firms’ relationship when it signed a contract with the motor manufacturers to recruit more than 1,000 people to provide facilities and energy management services for Rolls-Royce’s properties in the UK.
Mitie chief Ruby McGregor-Smith said: “We are delighted to have been appointed preferred bidder. We value our 23-year relationship with Rolls-Royce and we look forward to working with them over the years to come.”
Beam me up, Scotch-y The best place to mature whisky is, quite literally, out of this world, it turns out – after Ardbeg Distillery discovered a vial of its distillate sent to the International Space Station (ISS) for three years had returned to earth with an “intense” flavour. Islay whisky company Ardbeg sent the vial, complete with shavings of the oak the company’s barrels are made from, to the ISS in 2011, in an effort to find out whether micro-gravity has an effect on the flavour of oak-distilled whisky.
