Labour market troubles in Spain
Unemployment benefit claims in Spain jumped by 34,400 in March, an increase of 0.8 per cent compared to the previous month. Jobless claims now total 4.33m, the Labour Ministry revealed yesterday. “Unemployment has resumed its rising path, after temporary signs of stabilisation in the second-half of 2010,” said Citigroup’s Giada Giani. The number of claims has risen for three straight months, reflecting the gap between the Eurozone’s troubling peripheral states and stronger core economies such as Germany and France.
