Jobs abroad snubbed by one in ten
NEARLY one in ten City workers have declined a job opportunity abroad in the last two years, a survey by Morgan McKinley revealed yesterday.
While nine per cent have turned down an opportunity, a further 28 per cent were not at all willing or able to move abroad for their careers.
Yet one in five financial sector employees have moved overseas, the survey showed.
“Opportunities to move abroad are not as abundant as some recent reports might suggest – 43 per cent of respondents had not had the option to relocate [despite being open to the idea],” said Morgan McKinley’s Andrew Evans.
Concerns over one’s family or partner were the leading reason for not relocating overseas, with nearly half (48 per cent) respondents in this category citing it as their reason for staying put.
