Is the Zeekr 9X Super Hybrid the new luxury SUV to beat?
Zeekr’s enormous new 9X Super Hybrid is heading to Europe with 885bhp, more than 100 miles of electric range and a cabin packed with luxury tech. Here’s everything we know so far, and whether it could trouble the Range Rover.
Zeekr is bringing its biggest and most powerful SUV to Europe, and it isn’t exactly a subtle arrival. The new 9X Super Hybrid packs a claimed 885bhp, weighs almost 2.9 tonnes and stretches to roughly the same length as a long-wheelbase Range Rover. If that sounds excessive, that’s because it absolutely is.
The Chinese luxury SUV has been on sale in its home market since 2025, but Europe is next on the list. There’s still no confirmation of UK sales, although Zeekr has repeatedly hinted that Britain remains part of its long-term plans. Whether drivers here are ready for another enormous luxury SUV is another question entirely.
Zeekr 9X Super Hybrid powertrain
Unlike the version sold in China, Europe won’t get the range-topping tri-motor model. Instead, the 9X arrives with two electric motors, one on each axle, paired with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine and a sizeable 55.1kWh battery.
It’s designed to spend as much time running on electricity as possible, with the petrol engine stepping in either to generate power or lend a hand on longer journeys. Zeekr claims an electric-only range of up to 111 miles and a total combined range of 458 miles.
Thanks to its 900-volt electrical architecture, the battery can also be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in a claimed 9.5 minutes, assuming you can find a charger powerful enough to keep up.
Nearly 900bhp in a 2.9-tonne SUV
Zeekr quotes 885bhp and 690lb ft of torque for the European-spec car, enough, it says, to launch this near-three-tonne SUV from 0-62mph in a claimed 4.1 seconds, with a top speed just shy of 150mph.
Those numbers would be eyebrow-raising in a sports car. In something this large, they’re faintly ridiculous.
And yet, buyers in China might feel short-changed. Zeekr says their tri-motor version cuts the 0-62mph sprint to just 3.1 seconds, which is the sort of acceleration that really shouldn’t be possible in something weighing almost three tonnes.
Zeekr 9X interior and technology
For all the performance, the 9X is pitched squarely as a luxury SUV rather than an oversized sports car.
Adaptive air suspension is fitted as standard, while inside you’ll find a six-seat cabin with heated, ventilated, reclining and massaging seats. Zeekr says the interior is designed to feel like a private lounge, complete with premium leather, wood trim and active noise cancellation.
There’s technology everywhere you look, too. A huge 47-inch augmented reality head-up display projects navigation and driving information across the windscreen, while twin OLED displays dominate the dashboard.
Rear passengers haven’t been forgotten either. A 17-inch OLED entertainment screen folds down from the roof to create a cinema-like experience, helped along by a 32-speaker Naim sound system. There’s even a built-in fridge, because apparently no flagship luxury SUV is complete without somewhere to chill your drinks.

A towering front grille, slim headlights and upright proportions give it plenty of road presence, while the clean bodywork avoids some of the fussier styling seen on rival luxury SUVs. Whether you find it elegant or simply enormous will probably depend on your tolerance for oversized SUVs.
Will the Zeekr 9X come to the UK?
For now, Zeekr has only confirmed the 9X Super Hybrid for Europe, with no official word on UK availability.
The brand has talked about entering the British market for some time, so a right-hand-drive version wouldn’t come as a surprise. Until that happens, though, the Range Rover, BMW X7 and Mercedes GLS don’t have much to worry about on UK roads.
Zeekr 9X verdict
The 9X Super Hybrid is enormous and absurdly powerful, and it knows it. Nearly 900bhp, a properly plush cabin and more than 100 miles of electric range make for an intriguing combination.
Whether Europe is ready for another ultra-large luxury SUV remains to be seen, but Zeekr clearly believes there’s room for one more. If it eventually reaches the UK, it’ll certainly make an entrance.
