Irish police arrest men for following INM boss
INDEPENDENT News and Media (INM) yesterday confirmed Irish police have detained a number of individuals who were following the car of its chief executive Gavin O’Reilly.
It is not yet clear who is behind the surveillance operation tracking O’Reilly.
The news came as INM distanced itself from speculation chairman Brian Hillery is preparing to quit the firm despite being re-elected to the board with 99 per cent support at Friday’s annual meeting.
A statement from INM said it will announce any changes to the board “in line with listing rules” but that it does not currently have any obligation to do so.
But dissident shareholder Denis O’Brien called for Hillery to go, claiming the firm had lost €2bn (£1.78bn) in value during his tenure.
