In the last days of Christmas, Asda gave to me: £4m investment into customer service
Getting stressed about Christmas shopping? Asda thinks it might have the solution.
The Walmart-owned supermarket has just ploughed a further £4m into its customer service department for the last two weeks ahead of the big day, hoping to take the fuss out of the festive season.
The company has deployed 8,000 staff as "Go-Getters for Forgetters", who will help pick up last-minute items while you are stuck in the queue at the till.
Every store will have a team of Go-Getters, who between them are expected to walk approximately 58,020 miles – the equivalent of walking around the earth almost two-and-a-half times or running 2,213 marathons – in the next fortnight.
On top of this, staff have been given "festive finders" to help dig out items that customers can't spot.
Asda said it was part of its commitment to "offer existing colleagues the opportunity to work extra hours over the festive period, and to make customers’ shopping trips as easy and hassle free as possible".
It might also come in handy, given the supermarket's poor showing in Kantar figures yesterday and the fact that Asda has been in further decline despite chief executive Andy Clarke calling its "nadir" back in August.
