Geithner upbeat on global growth
Europe’s efforts to save the euro were endorsed by US treasury secretary Timothy Geithner yesterday, during his trip to Germany. “The leaders of Europe have done the essential necessary things and they’ve made it clear they will do what is necessary not just to hold the euro together but to make sure that these reform programmes are able to work,” he said. Geithner was also optimistic about the global recovery. “I think we’re in a much stronger position than we were three months, six months, nine months ago to deal with the mix of challenges we face ahead,” Geithner said.
