France calls off its war of words with PM Cameron
FRANCE has waved the white flag across the Channel as Alain Juppé, the French foreign minister, called off the “war of words” with the British government.
A string of slurs has been directed at Parliament from Sarkozy’s team lately, prompted by Cameron comparing France’s economy to that of Greece, and his recent veto of a proposed EU treaty change.
Sarkozy reportedly likened the Prime Minister to a “stubborn child”.
While relations between Paris and London were “not as idyllic” as they once were, Juppé said, “There is not an ounce of doubt that Franco-British relations will become excellent once again. We have too much in common to allow them to deteriorate.
“I don’t think the bridges are broken,” he added.
