Football Betting Tips: Back Eagles to soar to victory against rivals Brighton
WHEN thinking of the fiercest rivalries in modern-day football, Crystal Palace v Brighton isn’t a game that initially springs to mind.
However, for fans of both clubs, tomorrow’s early kick off will mean everything.
Neutrals may still need a bit of convincing before they rank this game up there with the thrills of the north London derby or Liverpool v Manchester United.
But with 12 goals in their three previous head-to-head games, they won’t need convincing about entertainment value.
It was Brighton who went home celebrating the last time these two sides met, with a 3-1 victory at home against the Eagles sending them up to 10th in the table, nine points clear of their rivals.
Fast forward 19 games and Crystal Palace have leapfrogged Brighton in the table and gone three points clear.
As much as Palace have improved, it’s Brighton’s downfall that rings alarm bells.
Chris Hughton’s side have won just two of their past 13 league games, a run of form that has seen them slide to the wrong end of the table, just five points clear of the relegation zone.
They may have secured three points at home against basement boys Huddersfield last time out, but it came against a side who have won just once away from home this season.
In fact, Brighton’s away form isn’t much better than Huddersfield’s.
From a possible 42 points on their travels, they have managed eight.
Palace on the other hand have suffered just one defeat in their last six league games and that was against Manchester United.
The 5/6 on offer for a Palace win looks too good to ignore.
