Film tax relief backed by industry
KEY MEMBERS of the UK film industry came out in support of government plans to encourage UK film production yesterday.
The plans include the extension of film tax relief from 20 per cent to 25 per cent for major films with budgets over £20m from April 2014. British Film Institute chief executive Amanda Nevill said, “It’s fantastic that the chancellor is doing so much to ensure UK film is positioned in the strongest possible way.” The government also said it intends to extend tax relief for theatres by 2015, however it did not reveal any details.
