Yorkshire Building Society
Chris Pilling, head of branch network at HSBC Bank, has been appointed as chief executive of the UK’s second-largest building society. Pilling will join Yorkshire Building Society on 31 December, taking over from current chief executive Iain Cornish. Prior to joining HSBC as chief executive of its telephone and internet banking arm First Direct in 2006, Pilling held senior marketing roles at Kraft, British Airways, Telewest and Asda.
Palamon Capital Partners
The private equity firm has appointed Olivia Roberts as an associate principal. Roberts joins from Alchemy Partners, where she was an executive in the London office.
Ceres Power
David Pummell has been hired as chief executive of the energy company, effective from 5 September. Pummell was most recently CEO of Maps Technology and is a director of Pummellinc.
Savills
The property business has doubled the size of its Belfast office to 12 by hiring the former team from Myles Danker. Savills director Anne-Marie Lonergan will continue to lead the unit, with Myles Danker founding director Stuart Danker taking a consultancy role.

Peter Gibbs has been appointed as an independent director of the pensions and insurance group and a member of the board’s investment oversight committee. Gibbs is currently a non-executive director of Intermediate Capital Group, Impax Asset Management Group and UK Financial Investments Limited, and a director of Merrill Lynch (UK) Pension Plan Trustees Limited.
Norton Rose
Thilo Danz will join the Frankfurt office as a counsel in the German tax law team on 1 October. Danz is currently vice president of the tax department at Citigroup Global Deutschland.

The Debt Managers Standards Association has appointed retired High Court judge The Hon Sir Harry Ognall as chairman of its Compliance and Discipline panel. Ognall formerly specialised in criminal and civil cases, including corporate fraud.
