Dechert
Andrew Hood has joined the law firm as a senior director in its international trade and government regulation practice. Hood most recently served as legal adviser to the Prime Minister. Prior to this, he held positions as head of international and EU law at the Attorney General’s Office, legal adviser and senior policy officer at the UK Representation to the EU in Brussels (including on sanctions), and was a former senior legal adviser at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. “Andrew Hood’s knowledge of EU regulation is second to none. Andrew joining the Dechert EU team positions Dechert as the firm of choice for EU regulatory advice. His understanding of the intricacies of the Brexit negotiations and the implications of Brexit for UK based companies are a real asset to clients,“ said Miriam Gonzalez, co-chair of the firm’s international trade and government regulation practice.
Together
Specialist lender Together has expanded its commercial team with a trio of senior appointments. Steve Jackson, a financial services professional with more than 29 years’ experience in the sector, joins as regional development director for the north west. Previously head of syndicated lending at Co-operative Bank, Steve’s most recent role was bridging finance director at Seneca Partners, where he helped to grow the bridging finance book, primarily for residential or commercial property or land. Bob Stones, a property and commercial finance specialist, joins Together from his previous role as bank manager at NatWest, where he specialised in real estate finance. He brings 27 years of industry experience to the role and will work as a regional development manager for Yorkshire. Regional development manager Jon Elliott has also joined Together from his previous role at Royal Bank of Scotland, where he worked for 37 years. A specialist in commercial banking and property, his appointment allows the Cheadle-based lender to expand further across the UK as he takes a post covering London and the south east.
Bilfinger GVA
Bilfinger GVA, one of the UK’s largest commercial property advisers, has appointed Gerry Hughes as its new chief executive. Based at the company’s UK headquarters in London, Gerry will now lead the Bilfinger GVA business into the next phase of its on-going business strategy. He has worked at the company since 1992 in a number of leadership roles, most recently as national head of the business’ planning, development and regeneration team. He also sits on the international board of Bilfinger Real Estate and will continue to do so. Gerry has extensive expertise in advising on setting strategy for and enabling the delivery of complex development and regeneration projects at all scales. In particular, he has significant experience in establishing public/private joint venture delivery structures and funding mechanisms.
