Chinese police interrogate two more AstraZeneca employees
CHINESE police yesterday questioned two more employees from AstraZeneca, as the country’s probe into multinational pharmaceuticals firms deepens.
The British-Swedish company confirmed just days ago that one of its sales representatives had been questioned by the authorities.
“The Shanghai Public Security Bureau has asked to speak with two line managers with whom this representative has worked, one of who is continuing to assist the Bureau with their enquiries,” said AstraZeneca in a statement.
Rival pharmaceuticals giant GlaxoSmithKline has been accused of being at the centre of a ¥3bn (£320m) bribery scandal and said on Monday that some of its executives appear to have breached the law.
It also emerged yesterday that a US citizen has been detained in China in connection with the probe, though a US embassy spokesman declined to say which firm the individual was associated with.
